Obituary for PFC. Michael P. Giannattasio

PFC Michael P. Giannattasio of Armada, MI passed away suddenly on August 30, 2017, at Camp Pendleton, CA at the age of 22.

Born on June 5, 1995, Michael was the 4th of 8 children born to Frank and Jane Giannattasio. Michael graduated from Notre Dame de la Salette High School, Olivet, IL in 2014 where he ran Cross Country and played Rugby. Michael graduated La Salette with the “Devotion to Duty” award and was an All-State Rugby player during his Senior Year. He had the privilege to serve as Master of Ceremonies while at La Salette and consecrated himself to Our Lady during his high school years.

Michael then attended Macomb Community College in 2015 and 2016 before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps on January 23, 2017. Michael completed Basic Training on April 21, 2017, with Platoon 3028, India Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion at Parris Island, SC where he earned the company’s highest physical fitness and combat fitness score of 600 out of 600 points. After basic training, Michael’s next assignment was to Reconnaissance Training Company, Advanced Infantry Training Battalion, Camp Pendleton, CA.

Michael was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Ray, MI. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Michael is survived by his parents, Frank and Jane Giannattasio; siblings Sr. Luc-Marie, O.P. (Ali Giannattasio), Tyler (Bernadette), Leah, Anthony, Marcel, John and Louis Giannattasio; nieces and nephew; Seraphina, Ethan Joseph and Daphne Giannattasio; Grandmother Gloria Mueller and Grandmother Anne Giannattasio; Uncle Joe (Debbie) Giannattasio and Aunts; Anne (Greg) Glacken, Ellen Cordivari, Chris (Paul) Hanlon and several cousins and great aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be on Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Rosary service at 7:00 pm at Tiffany-Young and Hauss Funeral Home, Modetz Chapel, 73919 Fulton Street, Armada, MI. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, September 15, 2017 at 8:00 am with Instate from 7:30 am to time of Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ray Twp, MI. Burial will follow Mass at Willow Grove Cemetery in Richmond Twp, MI.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests Masses to be said in Michael’s name. Please direct your Mass requests to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 57575 Romeo Plank, Ray, MI 48096 - 586-677-9511
