You are not alone. The Modetz Funeral Homes staff knows how important it is for you and your loved ones to have professionals assisting you with your grief and loss. We are committed to provide the aftercare and bereavement counseling you may need at no cost to you. You and your loved ones are encouraged to participate in these services. The Horizons Support Group is a support group for anyone who is grieving the loss of a loved one. This is an ongoing group available to anyone in the community. No reservation is required. No cost, simply come. Share, listen and feel better. DAYTIME First & Third Mondays of each month 1:00pm - 3:00pm Howarth United Methodist Church 550 E. Silverbell (east of Lapeer Road) Orion EVENINGS Third & Fourth Wednesdays of each month 7:00pm - 9:00pm Modetz Planning Center 127 W. University (corner of University and Walnut) Downtown Rochester Our grief counselor, Joy Smick has been counseling grieving children and adults for over a decade. She writes our monthly Horizon newsletter and is the facilitator of the Horizon Support Group as well as provides lectures to local groups. Joy received her Master's degree in Counseling from Oakland University and majored in Psychology in her undergraduate studies. She is a licensed by the State of Michigan and is certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors. Joy continues to attend conferences, seminars, and workshops while researching the topics of grief and loss. Joy is available for phone and online consultation, as well as individual counseling.
